If you’re an amputee or know of someone who is, you owe it to yourself to attend an Amputee Coalition Limb Loss Education Day event. These one day LLEDs, which are held in various cities all across America are designed to bring high quality patient education and recreation to the local level where amputees live work and play. It gives the patient, as well as family members a chance to meet with industry professionals and talk about the latest in prosthetic technology. Also, patients get a chance to participate in recreational activities such as running, rock climbing, archery, swimming etc, all designed specifically for the amputee community. The support that one receives during the event is immeasurable. Having a chance to personally network with and learn from other amputees who have experienced first hand what you’re going through is very therapeutic. I recently attended an LLED and captured some video of my experience. Please enjoy.
To register for an upcoming LLED in a city near you, visit http://www.amputee-coalition.org. Their next event will be held in Portland Oregon on October 24, 2015 at Reed College’s Watzek Sports Center from 9:00 am- 4:00 pm. Registration is only $15 and includes lunch. Kids 10 years and under are free. Please look for me at the College Park Industries booth. I’ll be giving away a FitBit Charge in our lifewithreggie.com sign up.
